Questions, answered

Are signatures collected with Signit legally binding?

Yes, for the vast majority of business documents. Signit records consent, identity (email), timestamps, IP address and device for every signature and seals the document with SHA-256 hashes — the evidence standard used under ESIGN/UETA (US), PIPEDA and provincial electronic-transactions acts (Canada) and eIDAS (EU). Some document types (wills, certain real-estate transfers, notarised documents) have extra formalities; check with your counsel for those.

Do my signers need an account?

No. Signers receive a secure link by email (or you open it on a tablet in person). They review, sign and get their copy — no sign-up, no app.

What is a "sender" and what counts as a "document"?

A sender is a person on your team who prepares and sends documents. A document is one PDF sent for signature, regardless of page count or number of signers. Drafts and templates don't count, and signers are never charged.

What happens after the free trial?

Nothing is charged automatically. You keep full access to view and download everything you've signed; to keep sending, pick a plan. We'll remind you before the trial ends.

Can our software create and send documents automatically?

Yes. Team plans and above include the REST API and webhooks. Build a template, then one API call creates a pre-filled document and returns the signing link; a webhook tells you when it's signed. See the API documentation.

Can I use my own branding and domain?

Team and Business plans show your logo on signer emails and use your name as the sender. Business adds a custom sending domain so emails come from your company's address.

Where is my data stored?

Documents are encrypted in transit and stored on isolated infrastructure in North America with daily backups. You can delete any document at any time, which removes the files permanently. See our security page.
